The Shafer Group, PC is a full service accounting and tax firm. We have experience working with a broad range of industries including real estate, construction, software, high tech, healthcare, defense & military, retail, manufacturing, and not-for-profit. Gregory L. Shafer, CPA

Mr. Shafer has 25 years experience in public accounting, much of it having been with one of the nation’s largest accounting firms. In addition to having performed professional services to the public as a CPA, he has held positions in industry, both in sales management and as a financial executive. His experience includes a wide variety of industries, working with small businesses in addition to larger firms. Gregory’s substantial experience in taxation includes specialization in estate, trusts and business planning. He also holds accreditation in individual financial planning and performs these services for a number of individual clients. Gregory holds a Masters degree in Accounting and a MBA in Taxation.

William (Bix) Moding, CPA

Bix Moding has more than 30 years of experience in both public accounting and private industry. He has a BS in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Business Taxation. From 1975 to 1979, Moding was a staff and senior accountant/auditor with Deloitte & Touche, CPA’s in California. From 1979 to 1996, he was a founder and co-managing partner with a mid-size CPA firm in Santa Ana, CA. Additionally, Bix was involved for 15 years as CFO and a member of the Board of Directors of a publicly-traded biotechnology company in California. Most recently, he was CFO of a privately-held pharmaceutical research company in Colorado. Bix specializes in compilation, review, audit and consulting services for businesses and tax-exempt organizations. Additionally, he is very involved in providing tax planning, compliance and audit representation services to individuals, business owners and businesses with an emphasis on business growth and transaction planning.



Kathleen Geist, EA
Manager

Kathleen has over 10 years experience in public accounting working for various sized firms in Colorado and Arizona. She is licensed with the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent. She specializes in taxation. She is involved in preparing, advising and representing all tax-reporting entities such as: individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, and trusts. She has participated in audits of not-for-profit entities as well as provided small business consulting services to clients in various industries. She worked her way through college as a self employed bookkeeper while attending the University of Arizona.  Kathleen resides with her husband Mike and two children, Steven and Amanda, in the Tri-Lakes area.



Andrea LeDeaux

Andrea oversees the firm’s accounting, human resources, marketing, information systems and administrative activities. Andrea joined The Shafer Group in 2002 to help build the business foundation and position the company for growth. She currently manages day to day business operations and works with the management team to develop and implement future business strategies. Prior to joining the firm, she spent 18 years in health care marketing and management. Andrea holds a Masters of Science degree from St. Joseph’s University in PA.



Yoonmi Kim, CPA
Supervisor, Tax

Yoonmi has extensive experience in public accounting working for small to mid-sized firms and individuals. She is experienced in preparing taxes for individuals, corporations, partnerships and fiduciary income tax returns as well as compiling financial statements. Her particular area of interest and expertise is in individual and small business tax and transaction planning. She strives to assist clients by analyzing each particular client tax situation and its tax impact with current updated tax codes. She speaks the Korean and English language fluently. She holds a BS in Accounting and English, a Master's Degree in education and is in the process of obtaining a MBA in Accounting and Taxation.



Chris Wallin, EA
Supervisor, Tax

Chris holds a BS in Accounting with honors. He has prepared tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and not-for-profit organizations as well as provided tax planning services to various clients. He has also participated in audits of corporations and not-for-profit entities. Chris enjoys living in Colorado and when not working at The Shafer Group, he is usually mountain biking or hiking.



Bob Gloceri, CPA
Supervisor, Tax and Accounting

Bob has over 8 years experience in public accounting at small to mid-sized firms. His experience includes preparation of individual, corporate, and partnership income tax returns and accounting consultation to clients who utilize QuickBooks. Prior to this, Bob spent more than 21 years in corporate and life insurance accounting at a large multi-line insurance holding company. His area of expertise and interest is in assisting clients with the set-up and maintenance of QuickBooks. He holds a BS in Accounting and is licensed as a CPA in Illinois.



Vidhya Krishnamoorthy, CPA
Accountant

Vidhya has 6 years experience in accounting. Her experience includes preparation of taxes for individuals, corporations, partnerships, fiduciary ,exempt organizations and estimates and amended returns . She has analyzed tax impacts of various tax shelters and has experience in all aspects of accounting from preparation of journal entries to completion of financial statements. Her personal interests are cooking, traveling, reading and gardening. She and her husband share an interest in activities with their two children. She holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting.



Katie Hall
Accountant

Katie Hall is a tax accountant with over 5 years experience working in public accounting. Her experience is comprised of tax preparation for individuals, corporations, partnerships, fiduciary and benefit plans tax returns. She also has experience with every day accounting for numerous small businesses. Her hobbies include reading, four-wheeling, camping and spending as much time as she can with her family and friends.



Gyu Seob (Brian) Kim
Accountant

Gyu Seob (Brian) Kim has more than twelve years of finance and accounting experience in the manufacturing industry. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in South Korea and a MBA in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. His main job focus is the preparation of individual, partnerships, S-corporations, and trustee income tax returns. He is also in the process of becoming CPA certified. Brian is conversant in English, Korean, and Chinese (Mandarin). Brian likes all types of sports especially golf and soccer.



Jon Nielson
Accountant

Jon has been practicing accounting for over four years. His experience includes tax preparation for individuals and businesses, audit of small businesses, and general ledger work at a fortune 1000 company. He holds a BS in accounting from the University of Wyoming and an MBA with an emphasis in accounting from Utah State University. Prior to working in accounting, Jon was employed in the banking industry for about four years. Jon enjoys helping individuals and businesses and appreciates the daily opportunities he has at The Shafer Group to participate in his clients' success.





Monica J. Buchanan

Monica has approximately 30 years experience in accounting. Her background encompasses all aspects of corporate and public accounting, including bank reconciliations, multi-state payroll set-up and processing, state and local sales tax returns, incorporations and corporate dissolutions, preparation of financial statements and more. Monica is working towards her QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification.





Myrna Keena

Myrna relocated from Texas to join The Shafer Group team. She brings over 20 years of bookkeeping knowledge and experience in a wide variety of industries including audio/video, computer, insurance, restaurant, aircraft maintenance, retail clothing, and sales/marketing. Her extensive experience working with small businesses has equipped her to understand the importance of accurate and practical bookkeeping practices. Myrna thrives on the daily challenges bookkeeping brings and strives to treat her client base with the highest of importance.





Stephanie Gries

After several years working with a large corporation, Stephanie has found a passion for working with small business owners. Her area of expertise is payroll set up and processing and keeping current on multiple state payroll laws and federal reporting requirements. She also helps new business owners by preparing state and federal incorporation documents, ensuring all required documentation is in place. Stephanie strives to develop a strong working relationship with her clients and places customer service as a high priority every day.
